DEALING WITH BIN ENDS
Its that time of year where you've finalised the stocktake and discovered a few hidden 'gems - the last 70 cases of the 2006 Shiraz (you've since rolled onto the 2008), 90 cases of that 2007 Pinot Gris (just bottled the 2009) and some other bits and pieces.
Sure the cellar door can soak up a few, but it would be great to clear all these cases in one swoop - one invoice, one delivery -before they're looking too tired!
How do you do this? There are a few options where you can offer them to direct marketing retailers. You may have to offer them with a volume discount, but you know that your brand won't take a hit (as they will be sold in mixed dozens) and be advertised at some ridiculous price, undoing all the good brand building work that you have been doing over the past few years.
The wines must still be holding up well, as these retailers have a tasting panel to get through. So now is the time; before the wines fall over. Target a couple of the medium size guys, and offer them the wines as an exclusive.

 Ronald MacDonald House Snowflake Ball
The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Snow Flake Ball is being held in Orange on the 18 July 2009, with the objective of raising funds for the building of the new Ronald McDonald House Central West in Orange. To date, close to $1 million has been raised towards the estimated $1.8 to $2 million that will be required to build this much needed facility.
The Snowflake Ball has been organised by RMH Chairperson of Events, Kylie Lewis-Minogue. “It is one of the only RMH events to be held in regional NSW and the support has been exceptional. We hope that the ball will not only raise the much needed funds, but highlight the important work that is being achieved by the people at RMH.”
“When parents think of their child’s future, an extended stay in hospital is not part of the plan. We hope that a Ronald McDonald House serving the Central West will ease the load at a difficult time,” concluded Kylie.
