Patina Wines

Welcome to Vintage '09

Vintage is upon us and we are busy in the winery with the 2009 fruit. I've pressed some delicious Sauvignon Blanc off skins and the winery smells divine! We have been lucky this year, with good rain in the lead up to vintage. We are now having lovely sunny days with cooler nights which creates a long ripening season and subsequently builds fantastic cool climate flavours in the fruit.

My passion for Riesling is ‘out there’ so it’s exciting to see the Wine Wise review stating “The Patina wine demonstrates how good Orange Riesling can be when it is made with great care.”

I’m creating a special “Jezza” red blend and I’ll have a barrel in the tasting room during F.O.O.D. week for sampling. We look forward to seeing you at the cellar door soon.

Cheers Gerald

Orange F.O.O.D. Week

Orange F.O.O.D. Week

The Orange F.O.O.D. Week is on again! Festivities, dinners, lunches and exhibitions (to name a few) will be held from 17 to the 26 April.

This year Patina has teamed up with renowned stonecutter, Ian Marr to hold an exhibition. Ian’s stones will be set in the garden which is looking beautiful in the autumn air. There will also be paintings by Patina’s Angela Naef. The exhibition can be viewed throughout F.O.O.D. Week. Click here for full details on the F.O.O.D. Week program.

Enjoy the garden & views with a delicious regional picnic by foodie Chantel Naef accompanied by a glass of wine during the first weekend (April 18th and 19th) from 11am to 5pm. Cost $20 (RSVP).

More information on Ian Marr can be seen here. As well, you can see a number of Angie's paintings on our recently updated Gallery page on our website here.

The cellar door is open weekends from 11am to 5pm and other times by appointment on 02 6362 8336.

Patina Pinot Noir 2005

"This is the best Pinot I've tasted from Orange, the most exciting NSW region for this variety...  Better value than most Pinots; I have encountered many $40-plus examples which are not as good. " Jeff Collerson, Sunday Telegraph, 18 Nov 2008

Patina Unwooded Chardonnay 2007

"No oak we are told. I normally don't go a bundle on Chardonnay without oak, but this is as beautiful an expression of Chardonnay fruit as I have tastes in a long time...great wine. 91 points" Tony Keys, The Key Review of Wines, Feb 2009

Patina Riesling 2008

image

Highly Recommended: An attractive, reserved, limey style that is an example of very pure cool-area riesling. The palate is clean, fine and linear with a cleansing twist of acidity. Excellent value. Winewise Magazine, March 2009
